Magical Powers

We have now been been in the house for three months and are loving every minute of it. There is one thing that I hoped would change when we moved into the house and I had a nice big kitchen with tons of counter space. I dreamt that I would magically have the powers to cook REALLY GOOD. Well it has not happened. Not that I haven't tried though, but unfortunately I always seem to get distracted while cooking. If any of you are looking for a good diet for your spouse I suggest the following options:

* Forget to turn the crock pot on. (You can change this one up and actually turn the crock pot on but forget to plug it in).
* Catch baked potatoes on fire.
* Start the cook book on fire.
* Start the french bread on fire.
* Trip the breaker when you are going to beat your cookie dough, turn the breaker back on but forget to turn the mixer off (mixer is still in bowl though). Dough goes all over your new kitchen!!
* Leave marshmallows unattended in the microwave.
* Dump your dinner all down the stove instead of in the serving bowl.
* Forget to spray the pan when making homemade pizza (It sure is hard to try and serve pizza when you can't get the crust off of your pan). Anyone for toppings and cheese?

These are just a few of the diets Todd has been on. He continues to tell me though that I am improving. What a good husband!!!

This is Cade... Did you really start your cookbook on fire?! Be careful because uncle Todd might be mad if you start your new house on fire! Aunt Melis you are crazy, but I love you.

Ha, I hear ya! I'm a horrible cook--atleast you attempt! We live off of frozen burritos and take out! I cooked three times while we lived in NYC for 9 months!

These are the times you guys will look back and laugh at, not like you already don't :) I have to admit that a few of those things have happened to me too. But I love the cookie dough one, never heard of that happening!
PS. We really need to get together. Call me sometime.

Forgeting the mixer was in the cookies still is hysterical! I don't think you're a bad cook at all though, I just think you get distracted. Haha, You're one busy woman...just wait till you have a little one running around. Haha, you'll do great though, there's always something new to adjust to.

Melis...
You are way too funny! You really should share the fire alarm story with everyone though! That one is the funniest one! I thought I would help you out by giving you copies of my recipies but it sounds like that is not the problem. You need to find a project that keeps you in the kitchen while you cook!! :)
Your cute!

That is so funny! Good luck! I was there too. I used to be a terrible cook when I was first married. I'm not so bad now... Though I did recently catch my oven on fire...Baking soda is always handy to have around...LOL

Hey Melissa! Well I thought I was going to be flying through next weekend, but now I'm not so sure, because the moving people have been a little slow on getting quotes for us. I'll let you know when I'll be in town, but I'm not sure if I'll find out far enough in advance to plan a night. If you want to go ahead and plan the night--hopefully I'll be coming through that weekend. I'm just afraid if I ask you to wait until I know for sure, it wouldn't be enough time for the rest of the cousins to plan for it. But I will definitely keep you posted!
